For the Training Instructor Certificate Program, Training 2007 Conference and Expo, Orlando FL
Greetings All! Welcome to this blog. Use it to send comments to each other, to post great training tips, or just to say "hi" to the group.
It was a delight spending three days with you in beautiful Orlando - great to work outside on the patio too. We laughed and learned - and your energy was a real boost!
Add your comments to this blog - and best of luck in all you do! Sharon

Hello fellow students. I sure enjoyed my time with you at the certificate program with Sharon. I learned so much from Sharon AND all of you. What a wonderful way to learn -- to learn to teach and facilitate. Thanks to ALL.

Hi Kim! Thanks for your kind comments - I agree that the richness of the learning experience came from everyone being so willing to participate and to share their own best practices with each other.
SO - I hope that you can use what you learned and that you'll let us know via this blog how it's all going.
Onward! Sharon
Hi Everyone!
I immediately began using chunking, pair shares and micro stretches and my trainees absolutely love it! Yesterday I pulled out the window pane. We have 3 different systems that are documented in 3 different ways. A 3 by 2 window pane made it very easy for them to visualize each system and process in their head. Thanks Sharon and all of you for a great learning experience!!!
Greetings, Mike! Great hearing from you and about how the "chunking" and all is going! Thanks for checking in, and so happy to know that the tools in your toolbag are coming in handy.
Did you ever get your corrected certificate? If not, let me know.
Cheers to you! Sharon
Hi All - Hope everyone is doing well and you have been able to use some our new found trainer bag tools! I sure have found them useful. I came back and presented the course I designed with my training map in class and everyone was very responsive. We played Blackout Bingo (which they all enjoyed) I used the Connecting the Dots for my connections piece and my learners enjoyed it - even my technical folks! THANK YOU Sharon for imparting your wonderful knowledge to us and leading by example. You have changed my outlook on Training me as a Trainer! Thank you to all my new found friends for making the experience so much richer! I bought The 10 Minute Trainer and have got so much information out of it.
Now - on to the important stuff. Right now I am doing a lot of Product Review or Release Review training and I am trying to think of some innovative ideas to use. Most of these sessions are 30-60 minutes with a mix of experience. Does anyone have some ideas for me?
Thanks,
Jenny

Hi Jenny! Thanks for commenting on this blog - and the great report about your use of the training tools - bravo!
In order to help you, we may need a bit more information about your "release review training" - what is it and how is it currently being presented? Can you use any of the 60-second activities in it? Sharon
Dear Sharon and fellow student,
It was such a great learnign opportunity for me to be in sunny Orlando with all of you...
I started using the chunk it and the found a interesting opportunity for the Gallery walk...
I even got my son to use the window pane in his class when he was presenting on Global warming. He had a message he wanted to pass on on he got great marks for it...
Cheers,

Hello all. It's hard to believe that it's already been a month since our training. It was such a great time of LEARNING with all of you. I am looking for an easy to use evaluation form to evaluate presentations. Ideally it would be short and concise and work well as a coaching tool for the one-on-work that I do. Thought I would check to see if any of my
"experts" might have something like that already created. Thanks for your help! ;)
To Danielle and Candace:
Danielle - Thank you for your feedback - glad to know both you and your son have been able to use some of the training ideas.
Candace - I have two really simple yet very informative evaluation forms - I'll email them to you - if anyone else wants them, send me an email.
Happy Spring to All! Sharon
Hello everyone,
I really enjoyed meeting all of you and learning so much at the certificate program. As a Technical Trainer for Sigma-Aldrich, I began using "Gallery Walk", "fill in the Blanks", and "Learning Compass" with huge success. Trainings became more fun & yielded higher retention.
Many of you know I was seeking a position out west... well, I landed a position that allows me to woek from home, so my new home is in San Jose with a wonderful man I met in April. I am now an "Instructional Designer"... essentially an architect for a new corporate university for Millipore. Please feel free to stay in touch and share ideas & successes any time!

Happy 2008, Marcia! Sorry for the delay in responding to your blog entry. I hope you are still well and happy in San Jose with your new job (and new love!). And I hope that this New Year brings all things wonderful for you and yours! Cheers! Sharon
